Read Now, Travel Later
COVID-19 has changed the world. The tourism industry has been one of the hardest hit areas of the global pandemic. Local restaurants, museums, state and national parks have all changed hours of operation, procedures, and some have gone out of business altogether.
Please verify current operations of any places you want to visit mentioned in these articles, and contact me if a business has permanently closed so I can update the article. Thank you and stay safe out there!
Backroads of North Carolina by Kevin Adams is one of the most inspiring and influential travel books I own. The book divides North Carolina into sections with multiple routes to explore natural wonders, history, and local attractions. The book is made complete with Adams’ very own high quality photography that is sure to inspire a little wanderlust.
The five sections of the book break the state into regions that would take a couple of weeks to explore using every page of this wonderful book. Each section includes a map with around five or six different routes to explore. The way Adams has written the book each route can take as little as a few hours or as long as a three-day weekend.
I think the best thing about Backroads of North Carolina is the gorgeous photography captured by Adams. I came across his website years ago while eager to find inspiration for my own photography and I have been a silent fan of his ever since. Each page is like a snapshot of travel he writes about in the guide.
I recommend this book for anyone eager to explore North Carolina, but especially for the road tripper crew. From day trip excursions to long weekend getaways, this book is filled with inspiration to enjoy from the comfort of your car.
Backroads of North Carolina is a must-have for anyone eager to explore North Carolina.
