Stunning Views From Wildcat Rock on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina

I almost didn’t pull into the parking lot. I almost didn’t walk up those stairs. I almost didn’t see one of the most stunning overlooks on the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. But fortunately I did pull into the parking lot, walk up the short flight of stairs, and spent two hours one morning just admiring this breathtaking view. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.

cleThe resilient USS North Carolina catches your attention across the Cape Fear River in downtown Wilmington. You can’t help but notice this mighty battleship dominating the skyline along the waterway. A Day at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina

I was the first person of the day to arrive at the infamous Mile High Swinging Bridge. I’m not a fan of heights; more specifically I have a fear of falling from heights. So of course walking across the swinging bridge a mile above sea level and a few hundred feet above a chasm shouldn’t be a problem, right? Oh and the wind was gusting 40 mph that day. No problem at all.
