I was road tripping across the Southeastern United States for three months. I knew Nashville was on the itinerary, eventually. Just as soon as I left the Great Smoky Mountains behind I started getting excited. I was going to the Music City!

That first trip was during an epic heat wave. It was 100+ degrees every single day. Despite that I couldn’t help but walk down Broadway, explore Centennial Park, and cross the pedestrian bridge on the Cumberland River. Of course, it also meant I was ducking inside every bar, museum, and gift shop with running air conditioning.

I’ve only been to Nashville twice now. Seeing these photos certainly make me miss the home of country music. Take a look through my favorite travel photos of Nashville, Tennessee. Leave me a comment below and tell me which is your favorite!

Welcome to Nashville! My first stop in Music City was The Parthenon, a life-size recreation of the Greek Parthenon. I only had enough time to catch the sunset the first day, but I came back again the next and spent nearly a full day in the park.

Found this rather gorgeous Tennessee Women’s Suffrage Monument at Centennial Park. Not sure what role Tennessee played in the movement, but the monument was striking.

Speaking of striking, I found this twisty, curvy tree over Lake Watauga at the park. I used a fisheye lens to capture this image, probably the first time I’d ever used that lens for a landscape image.

I eventually headed downtown. Broadway. I found the juxtaposition of quaint brick buildings with towering skyscrapers behind to be intriguing, to say the least.

Only in Nashville will you find a John Deere tractor pulling a trailer with a bar through downtown. I also found pedal taverns, mobile bars where the patrons must move bicycle pedals to keep the bar moving, to be as common as the live music in every single bar and restaurant.

Of course, I had to visit the museum dedicated to one of my favorite musicians, Johnny Cash.

I seriously love pedestrian bridges, so you can imagine my glee when I discovered the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. Stretching cross the Cumberland River beside Nissan Stadium, the bridge offered gorgeous views of downtown Nashville.

Eventually, I needed to leave the hustle and bustle of downtown behind. I drove to Love Park, a little hill not far away with a stunning panorama view of the Nashville skyline.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is right in the heart of the city. It was one of my favorite places to explore because it was surrounded by a little bit of everything. Inside the park I visited the World War II Memorial and found ruins of old columns.

The Nashville Farmers Market was no different than every other bar and restaurant in town: they also featured live music. The food court was on another level from any other farmers market I’ve ever visited.

This was one of my favorite photos of the year. I caught this moment out of the corner of my eye and just barely managed to raise my camera in time to capture it.

Would it surprise you know my favorite discovery in Music City was the Nashville Public Library? Seriously! It was the most gorgeous library I’d ever seen. The courtyard in the middle, surrounded by skyscrapers, was so peaceful and inviting I picked out a book and sat there for a couple of hours.

Every travel blogger has a list of things you must do during any visit to Nashville. One of those things on my list is the Loveless Cafe. About thirty minutes outside of the city, at the end of the Natchez Trace Parkway, this little cafe had some of the best biscuits and barbecue I’ve ever tried.

I spent the last evening in Nashville at the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. I told you I loved pedestrian bridges. But I also love sunsets. An hour after capturing these photos I was on the road again, leaving the city behind, but I’ll certainly never forget it.
